Ahead of his time, Johnson used creative marketing strategies—such as customer coupons and sales bulletins—to spread the word and spark interest in this groundbreaking product. With a small prototype mounted on the back of his Model T, he traveled across the United States, showcasing his invention at county fairs and small towns nationwide.
Johnson’s efforts paid off, as he quickly built a network of distributors and saw his invention gain widespread popularity. In 1926, he introduced yet another milestone: the first electric garage door opener.
